A weekend tour by bike with views of the largest lake in Italy, discovering a territory that knows how to offer the best of itself in terms of food, wine and culture. Two days of a self-gravel tour along the soft landscapes of the Garda Moraine Hills, tasting local delicacies and pedaling on quiet dirt paths between fortresses and historic villages.

Stage by stage


Hills around Lake Garda is a 100 km (62 miles) guided gravel tour that develops between Lombardy and Veneto along a pleasant route away from the chaos and traffic. Its ring configuration will allows us to cycle through the hilly area south of Lake Garda, full of vineyards and interesting villages.

1st stage: Peschiera del Garda - Volta Mantovana

(46 km 500 m D+: paved 60%; gravel 40%)(29 miles 1640 feet elevation gain)

Once we cross the fortified citadel of Peschiera del Garda, a UNESCO heritage site since 2017, we'll cycle along Lake Garda until we enter the area of ​​the moraine hills, a territory that includes a dozen municipalities, each of which is dominated by a castle. or its ruins. After Solferino, we'll be heading towards Volta Mantovana, a town overlooking the Po Valley.

2nd stage: Volta Mantovana – Peschiera del Garda

(52 km 300 m D+: paved 75%; gravel 25%)(33 miles 984 feet elevation gain)

Once on the banks of the Mincio river, we continue north, passing Eurovelo 7 to Valeggio sul Mincio, a town well known for the Sigurtà Garden Park, the Scaliger Castle and the Borghetto Hamlet. Enjoying a climate mitigated by the nearby presence of the lake, we'll cycle through gravel ups and downs within the municipality of Custoza, among vineyards, apple orchards and olive groves. Once we reach Salionze, follow the cycle path until we complete the ring in the awesome city of Peschiera del Garda.

The overnight stay is provided in a 3* or 4* hotel in a double room with private facilities in Volta Mantovana. If the structure is not available, we will guarantee an alternative accommodation of the same level in a location not far away.

Type of terrain

The itinerary develops on the morainic hills of Garda, located between the namesake lake and the Po valley. You go along secondary roads, cycle paths, cycle paths and dirt roads with a good and smooth surface, in a quiet environment and with views of the villages and lakes set in the morainic depressions. The slopes are never too demanding if not for a few hundred meters and the differences in height are well distributed along the entire route.
