Tenerife Bike Adventure is a gravel tour of 310 km (193 miles) which develops on the island of Tenerife around the Teide massif, along incredible scenic routes and immense fragrant expanses of wood. From sea level you will gradually reach altitudes above two thousand meters, pedaling on a plateau that is anything but boring between expanses of solidified lava. The conclusion of this guided cycling holiday in the Canary Islands will come with a dip in El Médano, a surfing paradise.
Day 1: Arrival at El Médano
The fastest and most comfortable means of transport to reach Tenerife is by plane. There are two airports on the island, Tenerife North and Tenerife South. The meeting place is El Médano, not far from the Tenerife South airport and easily reachable by bus. In the afternoon we'll be meet the group, the group leader and there will be briefing and hotel accommodation.
Day 2: El Médano – Güímar
(55 km 1000m D+)(34 miles 3280 feet elevation gain)
From El Médano, a charming town on the southern coast of the island, we go up the first slopes of the mountain reaching San Isidro and touching Granadilla de Abona. Then we'll continue along the hillside on a beautiful road full of curves between one barranco and another, villages with classic white houses, spontaneous vegetation and a magnificent view of the ocean.
Day 3: Güímar – La Esperanza
(40 km 1300m D+)(24,8 miles 4265 feet elevation gain)
From Güímar, a place located within the namesake valley, home to an interesting ethnographic park and the Reserva Natural Especial del Malpaís, we can continue towards Candelaria and climb towards the mountains, enjoying a unique view of the ocean. Through quiet dirt paths the group will reach the place of overnight stay in La Esperanza.
Day 4: La Esperanza – La Orotava
(35 km 1000m D+)(21,7 miles 3280 feet elevation gain)
From La Esperanza, we'll cycle in the northern side of the island of Tenerife, where a fantastic route begins on well-marked forest trails that are kept in perfect order. During the journey, we can enjoy panoramic views of Pico del Teide and the northern coast of the island. After several ups and downs, easy to be pedaled, we'll reach Aguamansa and La Orotava.
Day 5: La Orotava – San José de Los Llanos
(45 km 800m D+)(28 miles 2624 feet elevation gain)
We continue along the forest track gradually approaching the pyramid of the volcano, but never climbing its slopes. Staying halfway up the coast in a fragrant forest, we can easily and satisfactorily cover the dirt road until we reach San Josè de Los Llanos and the north-western coast of the island.
Day 6: San José de Los Llanos – Santiago del Teide

Passing the area located inside the wild Parque Rural de Teno, the route winds its way through woods and open spaces, promising first-rate views of the Pico del Teide. The end of the day will take place in Santiago del Teide, a town overlooking the amazing cliff of Los Gigantes.
Day 7: Santiago del Teide – Vilaflor de Chasna
(55 km 900m D+)(34 miles 2952 feet elevation gain)
Mountain stage where we enter the Parque Nacional del Teide, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. After an easy walk that winds around the Roques de Garcia, we cycle on a vast volcanic plateau dotted with particular rock shapes, depressions and stunning rock stratifications, with Pico del Teide observing us from the top of its 3718 m of altitude. After passing this natural amphitheater, we pass on a beautiful forest track as the conclusion of an epic day.
Day 8: Vilaflor de Chasna – El Médano

This last day is dedicated to relaxation. From Vilaflor de Chasna we'll descend to El Médano, a quiet coastal town renowned for surfing and boasting a two-kilometer-long beach bordered by a wooden walkway perfect for an evening stroll. In all respects, the most relaxing and authentic way to round off this cycling holiday in Tenerife.
Day 9: Departure from El Médano
Individual departure from El Médano to your destination, hoping to have offered an unforgettable bicycle adventure in Tenerife.
Overnight stays are provided in bed & breakfast and in 3* or 4* hotels in double room with private bathroom. If the facilities are not available, we will guarantee alternative accommodation of the same level in locations not far away.
The Tenerife Bike Adventure itinerary develops in Tenerife, an island in the Canary archipelago. The ride develops along secondary roads with some stretches on the main road, dirt forest tracks with excellent and smooth surfaces, in ever-changing and panoramic environments. The slopes are never too demanding except for a few stretches and the differences in height are well distributed along the entire route.

If you are a trained traveler, you like pedaling on a smooth surfaces and with a good percentage of dirt road, you love alternating sea and mountains in a setting made of varied landscapes, culture, nature and gastronomy, this holiday in the Canaries will give you a lot of satisfaction.
